The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare Review

So, I have a new celebrity crush, Henry Cavill. That means that I'm on a mission to binge-watch his filmography and share my thoughts with you. Ricky Martin, you're still my number one, but Hnery's taking center stage for now.  Now, let's dive into my review. According to the website, this movie is "based upon the recently declassified files of the British War Department and inspired by true events.  'The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare' is an action comedy that tells the story of the first-ever special forces organization formed during WWII by UK Prime Minister Winston Churchill and a small group of military officials including author Ian Fleming."

Here's a quick history lesson on our leading lads: Henry Cavill steps into the boots of Gus March-Phillips, the founder of the Small-Scale Raiding Force (SSRF). And word on the street, Ian Fleming's main inspirations for the James Bond character.  Then there's Alan Ritchson, who brings to life Anders Lassen, a decorated Danish war hero whose bravery was so legendary, he's the only non-Commonwealth to snag a British Victoria Cross during the Second World War.

Now, let's get into the movie review. Picture this, it's 1942, the scene opens with a fishing boat bobbing in the vast ocean. Two men -- March-Phillips and Lassen, find themselves in a tight spot. The boat is boarded by Nazi soldiers who are suspicious of the men on board because they did not fit the look of 'typical fishermen'. Basically, they were too good-looking. So, what's their brilliant escape plan? They decide to play the 'gay couple' card, hoping it'll throw the Germans off their scent. And let me tell you, the chaos that unfolds, insane! I was hooked and from then on, the movie did not disappoint.

This movie is reminiscent of the "Oceans" movies. A tight-knit crew, each with their unique skills, coming together to crack an impenetrable building. Every scene had a purpose, and the characters. Well, they played their roles superbly. Sure, there's a sprinkle of embellishment (hey, it's Hollywood), but the fact that these events actually have real-life roots, mindboggling. It had everything that you would ever want in an action film. I guarantee that you will be on the edge of your seat until the end.

Here's the kicker, I might have swiped left on this movie based on the description and trailer alone. But thank goodness I didn't!  Henry Cavill (yes, Superman himself) brings an unexpected charm to the mix. This movie is highly entertaining. This movie has everything, action, comedy and it brings the drama. The fact that it has real historical roots made it even better. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

I give this movie 4 out of 5 acorns.
