The Beekeeper Review

If you’re a fan of Jason Statham movies, you’re in for a treat with “The Beekeeper”. This film has all the action-packed excitement you’d expect from one of his flicks. It kicks off with schoolteacher Eloise Parker (Phylicia Rashad), who lives alone but has a tenant, Adam Clay (Jason Statham), renting her barn. They form a sweet friendship, with Adam sharing honey from the beehives he maintains on her property.

Things take a dark turn when Eloise falls victim to a phishing scam that wipes out her life savings and steals $2 million from a charity fund she manages. This scene is heartbreaking—seriously, how could anyone do that to Claire Huxtable? Devastated, Eloise is consumed by grief and tragically takes her own life.

Later that night, Adam finds her body while delivering honey. As he tries to leave, he’s arrested by FBI agent Verona Parker (Emmy Raver-Lampman), who just happens to be Eloise’s daughter. If I were in law enforcement and my mom wasn’t responding to my calls or texts, I’d be rolling out with my partner too. So, I totally get it.

When Verona realizes Adam isn’t a suspect, they let him go. As soon as he’s free, Adam contacts the Beekeepers, a secret organization dedicated to avenging Eloise by finding the scammers responsible.

Adam gets the address of a call center run by Mickey Garnett, a slimy character who’ll do anything to hold onto his power. Adam shows up and burns the place down. Mickey’s boss, tech executive Derek Danforth, orders Mickey to kill Adam. But Adam turns the tables, killing Mickey’s men and severing Mickey’s fingers. Mickey warns Derek that the Beekeeper is coming for him. Derek then informs Wallace Westwyld, a former CIA director who handles security for Danforth Enterprises.

Wallace decides to dig up more info on their pursuer by contacting the current CIA director, Janet Harward. Janet discovers that Adam is a retired Beekeeper and sends the current Beekeeper to eliminate him. Unfortunately for her, the agent sent after Adam is no match and ends up dead. Meanwhile, Verona and her partner predict that Adam’s next target is the Nine Star United Center in Boston, which oversees all of Derek’s global scam call centers.
Wallace gathers a team of ex-special forces personnel, warning them that the Beekeepers are a highly skilled and dangerous clandestine intelligence organization operating above government jurisdiction. Can you guess what happens next? Adam takes down the FBI’s SWAT team, storms the building, and defeats Wallace’s ex-special forces.

Adam’s kill list doesn’t stop with Derek; it also includes Derek’s mother, Jessica Danforth. And guess what? She’s the President of the United States! There’s a suspicion that she might have used the stolen funds from her son to finance her campaign. Wallace hires a group of mercenaries to take down Adam, who has infiltrated the President’s beachside mansion. It turns out Jessica had no idea about her son’s criminal activities.

Adam, being the unstoppable force he is, plows through the mercenaries. Jessica then decides to go public about Derek’s scamming operations. Derek, obviously not thrilled with this plan, tries to kill his mother. But Adam gets to him first and escapes. Even though Verona has a clear shot at Adam, she lets him go on his merry way.

Overall, I enjoyed this film. It’s the typical shoot’em up Jason Statham film. I give this movie 4 out of 5 acorns.
