The Justice League Review
Alright, let's dive into the "Justice League" movie, a film that definitely falls under the "guilty pleasure" category for many of us. Is it the best super hero movie? No, not really but it's very entertaining and visually stunning.
"Justice League" brings together some of our favorite DC heroes: Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash, and Cyborg, led by the indomitable Superman—who happens to be played by my boyfriend in my head, Henry Cavill. Directed by Zack Snyder, with Joss Whedon stepping in to finish the project, it's a movie that had high expectations and a lot of mixed reviews.
What I love about "Justice League" is that it finally brings these iconic characters together on the big screen. Seeing Batman (Ben Affleck) and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) working together is just epic. Affleck brings a grizzled, battle-weary edge to Batman, while Gadot continues to shine as the fierce and compassionate Wonder Woman.
One of the film’s standout elements is the introduction of Aquaman (Jason Momoa), The Flash (Ezra Miller), and Cyborg (Ray Fisher). Momoa’s Aquaman is a bit of a scene-stealer with his rugged charm and humorous one-liners. Ezra Miller’s Flash is the comedic heart of the team, bringing a sense of light-heartedness and relatability. Ray Fisher’s Cyborg, though a bit underdeveloped in this cut, has a compelling backstory that adds depth to his character.
The plot revolves around the heroes coming together to stop Steppenwolf, a somewhat forgettable villain who’s on a mission to collect the Mother Boxes and terraform Earth. While the story is straightforward and sometimes feels rushed, the action sequences are where the movie truly shines. The final battle is a visual spectacle, with each hero getting their moment to shine.
One of my favorite aspects of the movie is its visual style. Zack Snyder has a knack for creating stunning, larger-than-life scenes, and "Justice League" is no exception. The slow-motion shots and dynamic action scenes make for a visually captivating experience.
However, the movie isn’t without its flaws. The CGI, especially with Steppenwolf, can be hit-or-miss, and the tonal shifts due to the change in directors can sometimes feel jarring. The film also tries to juggle too many characters and plot points in a limited runtime, which can make it feel a bit disjointed at times.
Despite these issues, "Justice League" is a fun, action-packed ride that delivers on its promise of superhero spectacle. It might not be the most critically acclaimed superhero film, but it has its charms. For fans of the DC universe, it's a delight to see these heroes come together, even if the film isn't perfect.
In summary, if you're looking for a movie that's big on action, packed with your favorite DC heroes, and offers some good old-fashioned comic book fun, "Justice League" is definitely worth a watch. Grab some popcorn and enjoy the ride!
I give this movie 4 out of 5 acorns.
