Netflix's Lost In Space Series Review

 

Lost in Space is a Sci-Fi Rollercoaster that's mostly worth the ride. If you’ve ever wanted to know what it would be like to be stranded in deep space with your entire family, some questionable allies, and a robot with a very complicated personality, then Lost in Space on Netflix is your answer. A re-imagining of the 1965 classic, this series takes everything campy about the original and polishes it with stunning visuals, gripping action, and just enough family drama to keep things interesting.

Now, let’s talk about the elephant—or should I say villain—in the room: Dr. Smith. Yes, they flipped the script and made the infamous deceiver a woman. But let me tell you—this role was made for Parker Posey. If you’ve seen her in White Lotus or Dazed and Confused, you know she can embody chaotic energy like few others. Every scene she’s in is laced with manipulative brilliance, and she adds a layer of genuine unpredictability to the series. Brilliant move.

Here is the list of characters you’ll want to keep an eye on:

• Molly Parker as Maureen Robinson – The real captain of this operation. She’s smart, resourceful, and the glue holding this misfit crew together.
• Toby Stephens as John Robinson – The classic dad who is good in a fight but sometimes struggles with dad-ing. He brings that “rugged space cowboy” energy to the mix.
• Maxwell Jenkins as Will Robinson – The kid with the heart of gold and the robot bestie who steals the entire show. “Danger, Will Robinson!” makes a triumphant return.
• Taylor Russell as Judy Robinson – Ambitious, quick-thinking, and the one Robinson child who could probably survive without the rest of them.
• Mina Sundwall as Penny Robinson – The sarcastic and relatable Robinson sibling who reminds us that teenagers will be teenagers—even when lost in space.

The first two seasons? Fantastic. The Robinsons’ survival struggles, the tension with Dr. Smith, and the evolving bond between Will and the Robot keep things thrilling. Season 3, however, starts losing steam. The charm is there, but the pacing gets wonky, and things start feeling more rushed than immersive. Season 4? Well… meh. Not bad, but let’s just say my excitement had dimmed by the time the credits rolled.

Should you add it to your queue? Absolutely. Lost in Space has its flaws, but the ride is worth taking—especially if you love sci-fi adventures that blend high stakes with compelling characters. Maybe I’ll rewatch it someday, but not anytime soon. If you haven’t seen it yet, blast off immediately and let Parker Posey’s villainous genius and the Robot’s mysterious existence pull you in.
